Women's Volleyball Senior Night

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's volleyball team concluded their regular season by posting a three-set victory over visiting Lesley University on Friday night at the Leicester Gymnasium on the campus of Becker College in Leicester.

SENIOR NIGHT

  • Prior to the game, the Becker College athletics department and the women's volleyball program took a few moments to recognize the four student-athletes of this year's senior class. Outside hitter Sofia Cullina (Deep River, Conn. / Valley Regional), middle blocker Gillian Criddle (Earleville, Md. / Bohemia Manor), setter Morgan Gould (North Attleboro, Mass. / Tri-County) and defensive specialist Olivia McGuinness (Colchester, Conn. / Bacon Academy) were honored by teammates, coaches, family and fans for all their contributions to the program and to the Becker community as a whole for these last four years. Although their playing careers may be coming to an end, they will forever be a part of the Hawks family. 

FOR THE HAWKS OF BECKER

  • Criddle posted a dominant night at the net, tallying eight kills, hitting .538 and throwing down four solo blocks.
  • Cullina led a stellar defensive effort with 14 digs, adding three kills and two aces.
  • Gould setup the offense with 21 set assists to go along with eight digs, four kills and two aces.
  • Sophomore libero Joanna Bampi (Peabody, Mass. / Peabody Veterans) finished with eight digs on the night. With the performance, Bampi has amassed 449 digs on the season, a new Becker single season school record, surpassing the 445 amassed by Cullina in 2017.
  • McGuinness added seven digs on the defensive end.
  • Junior right side Yesenia Aviles (Southbridge, Mass. / Southbridge) sparked the offense, going six-for-six on her attacks and adding three aces and six digs.
  • Freshman outside hitter Teddie Flynn (Amesbury, Mass. / Essex Tech) finished with six kills and one dig.

FOR THE LYNX OF LESLEY

  • Sophomore middle hitter Nicole Pietrocola (Holmdel, NJ) led the Lynx with six kills and seven digs.
  • Junior right side hitter Allison Napoleon (Oahu, HI) added five kills and 16 digs.

UP NEXT
The Hawks of Becker now await word of their fate for the 2019 New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Postseason, with the first round scheduled for Tuesday, November 5th.
