Women's Soccer Blanks Eagles in Season Conclusion

LEICESTER, Mass.– Becker College defeated Daniel Webster College in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Hawks wrap up their regular season at 8-8-2, while the Eagles finish at 1-14.

The scoring surge started for the Hawks in the 38th minute when sophomore Erika Galdamez (Concord, Calif.) fired a shot from ten yards out, scoring her first goal of the season.

Becker was quick to get on the board in the second half when senior Katherine Cormier (San Diego, Calif.) slid the ball past the left side of Eagles junior keeper Danielle Melanson (Derry, N.H.).  At 49:45, sophomore Lauren Zaleski increased the lead by three when she found the back of the net just outside the six yard box.

With 13:39 left on the clock, senior Alycia Dery (Millville, Mass.) netted the final goal of the game when she lifted a shot just out of Melanson's reach.

Hawks senior keeper Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) earned her second shutout of the season, recording two saves in the game. For the Eagles, Melanson saved a whopping 19 shots faced on net.

Prior to the match, coaches Samly Phonesavanh and Kim Bridge honored the graduating seniors. Alyssa Bond (Thompson, Conn.), Tatum Fahs (Foster, R.I.), Cormier, Dery, and Rose have presented outstanding leadership and devotion to the women's soccer program. We wish them well in their future endeavors, and they will truly be missed.

The Hawks will enter the NECC tournament on Tuesday, November 4.
