Texeria’s hat trick surges Women's Soccer past Fisher

LEICESTER, Mass. --- Senior midfielder Kyra Teixeira (Old Lyme, Conn. / Lyme-Old Lyme) scored three goals and assisted on three more as the Becker College women's soccer team soared to an 11-0 victory over visiting Fisher College on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field on the campus of Becker College in Leicester.

SCORING SUMMARY
• Becker sophomore midfielder Alana Garofalo (Berlin, Conn. / Berlin) opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a strike from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by sophomore midfielder Kristen Beidleman (Holliston, Mass. / Norfolk County Agricultural).
• In the 24th minute it would by Beidleman herself taking the shot and finding the back of the net, that coming off a breakaway where she took a long pass from Teixeira as Becker went ahead 2-0.
• In the 30th minute, Becker junior midfielder Shannon Kelley (Bellingham, Mass. / Blackstone Valley Technical) found Teixeira with a short pass, and the senior finished for her team-leading ninth goal of the season to put the hosts ahead 3-0.
• A long blast from Garofalo in the 31st minute glanced off the crossbar but the ricochet found Teixeira right in front of the goal for the easy finish, putting the Hawks up 4-0. That score held up going into halftime.
• In the 51st minute, Becker junior midfielder Alyson Eldridge (Chesterfield, N.H. / Keene) scored her first goal of the season, assisted by Kelley.
• Just two minutes later, it was Eldridge again finding the back of the net, this time assisted by Teixeira as Becker went ahead 6-0.
• In the 57th minute, junior midfielder Chelsea Sedar (Bridgewater, Mass. / Bridgewater-Raynham) took a pass from Kelley and finished, putting the Hawks ahead 7-0.
• In the 73rd minute, it was again Garofalo, this time taking a pass from junior midfielder Emma Schoenbeck (Gorham, N.H. / Gorham) and launching it from 30 yards away for her second goal of the game.
• In the 77th minute, freshman midfielder Shannon O'Toole (Hamilton, Mass. / Hamilton Wenham Regional) scored her second career goal, taking a pass from Teixeria that beat the defense and finishing to go up 9-0.
• Then in the 84th minute, Kelley launched a cannon from 30 yards out, assisted by sophomore defender Diana Whittier (Sutton, Mass. / Blackstone Valley Technical) for her first goal of the game.
• Finally, with four minutes remaining, Teixeira completed the hat trick, taking a pass from Eldridge and finishing to make it 11-0.

FOR THE HAWKS
• Becker freshman goalkeeper Olivia Sherwood (Southington, Conn. / Southington) tallied three saves in net, earning her second career shutout.
• Kelley finished with a goal and three assists.

FOR THE FALCONS
• Junior goalkeeper Olivia Handy (La Verne, Calif. / Citrus College) put up a stalwart performance in net, tallying 13 saves on the day.

UP NEXT
The Hawks are back on the field on Sunday when they host Dean College in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) action as part of Becker Homecoming Weekend. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. The Falcons of Fisher host Maine – Fort Kent on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
