Goals 29 Seconds Apart Culminate in 1-1 Draw at Framingham St.

Becker Hawks junior, #21 Chelsea Sedar

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – A pair of goals only 29 seconds apart by both teams were the only tallies on the board as the Becker Hawks and Framingham State Rams finished in a 1-1 tie on Tuesday evening at Maple Street Field in non-conference play.

Hawks junior Chelsea Sedar (Bridgewater, Mass.) scored the goal for Becker at 39:18. That goal was quickly answered by Rams freshman Brooke Fenton (Chicopee, Mass.) at 39:47.

Sedar gave the Hawks the 1-0 lead with her first goal of the season. On what became 4-on-2 counterattack, Sedar made a 40-yard run down the right side of the field.

As she cut to the middle of the middle unimpeded, Sedar caught the Rams goalie off her line and fired a shot to the near post for the opening goal of the game.

Fenton responded with her first career goal just seconds later. Freshman Calen Frongillo (Franklin, Mass.) got the play started with a pass out of the back that found Fenton in the Rams offensive third.

The pass sprung Fenton behind the Hawks backline giving her a clear look at goal. From 30 yards out, Fenton struck a right-footed half volley into the far side netting, responding to the Hawks goal and tying the match 1-1.

The match remained tie as the sides went to overtime. In the extra 20 minutes, the Hawks outshot the Rams 5-1 with the best chance of overtime coming from Hawks sophomore Kristen Beidleman (Holliston, Mass.).

Beidleman found a pocket of space in the 103rd minute, 30 yards from goal. Beidleman's effort on goal required a diving stop to save, keeping the match tied 1-1.

Hawks freshman Olivia Sherwood (Southington, Conn.) played the full 110 minutes, making five saves and moving to 1-0-1 this season. Rams freshman Madison Brown (Attleboro, Mass.) made 12 saves in the full match and moves to 0-3-1 this season.

Becker is off to a 3-1-1 start this season and they are unbeaten in their last three matches. Framingham State goes to 0-3-1 with the draw.

The Hawks return to play on Thursday, welcoming Worcester State University to Alumni Field for a 6:00 p.m. scheduled kickoff. The Rams have a full week off before traveling to Dean on Sept. 18 for a 3:30 p.m. match.
