WORCESTER, Mass. - Six different Clark University Cougars found the back of the net on Sunday afternoon, led by sophomore Mia Advocate (Merrick, N.Y.) and her two goals, as Clark University took down the Becker College Hawks, 7-0, handing Becker their first loss of the season.
Advocate got the scoring started early with a second-minute goal. A header on goal by the Cougars was initially parried away by Hawks sophomore Lyndsey Cobb-Wilkins (Elmira, N.Y.) but Advocate found the rebound and scored for the 1-0 edge.
The Cougars doubled the lead two minutes later on a great set up from 15 yards out. A long pass from the midfield area found junior Taylor Barbieri (Glastonbury, Conn.), who laid off a great pass to Advocate, who made no mistake on her second goal of the game, giving Clark a 2-0 lead.
Clark continued the offensive outburst, scoring six goals in the opening half against Becker and then would go on to add another tally in the second half, on their way to the 7-0 win.
Cougars sophomore Morgan Small (Quakertown, Pa.) took the win for Clark and improves to 2-0 this season. Cobb-Wilkins played early in goal for the Hawks, making two saves and taking the loss to fall to 1-1. Freshman Olivia Sherwood (Southington, Conn.) made 10 saves in her appearance in net for the Hawks.
The Cougars are 2-0 to start the season while the Hawks drop down to 1-1.
Becker returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Fitchburg State for a road match starting at 4:00 p.m.
