Women’s soccer shuts out Fisher College, 3-0

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Hawks of Becker College shutout the Falcons of Fisher College by a score of 3-0 in non-conference women's soccer action Wednesday evening at Hormel Stadium.

FIRST HALF

Becker reached the board late in the first half when sophomore transfer Shannon Kelley (Bellingham, Mass. / Blackstone Valley Technical) scored her fourth tally of the year on a helper from Helena Ortiz (Memphis, Tenn. / Cordova) in the 31st minute. It wasn't long after that Ortiz score one of her own in the 39th minute to put Becker up 2-0. Becker outshot the Falcons by 12-8 margin in the first stanza.

 

SECOND HALF

The Hawks put the game out of reach for the Falcons in the 58th minute when sophomore transfer Alyson Eldridge (Dummerston, Vt. / Keene) scored her first goal in a Becker uniform to settle the score at 3-0. The Hawks outshot the hosts 7-5 in the second frame.

 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Becker outshot Fisher 19-13 (15-6 SOG) in the win.
  • The Hawks held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Becker's Kelley and Skyler Tenney (Jaffrey, N.H. / Conant) along with Fisher's Delaney McNulty (Northbridge, Calif. / Pierce College) each logged a game-high three shots on net.
  • Becker's senior goaltender, Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass. / Chicopee) earned her first shutout of the season (16th career shutout), stopping six shots on net.
  • Fisher's freshman netminder, Alexandra Colvin (Longmont, Colo. / Niwot) suffered the loss in a 12-save performance.
