Women's Soccer sunk by Anchorwomen, 6-2

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's soccer team lost 6-2 to visiting Rhode Island on Wednesday night at Alumni Field in Leicester.


The Anchorwomen of Rhode Island (4-4-2) were led by sophomore Olivia Capraro (North Providence, RI/North Providence) and sophomore Brittany DeGrooth (Westerly, RI/Westerly) with two goals apiece. Sophomore Eleni Grammas (Cranston, RI/Cranston West).


Becker sophomore midfielder Helena Ortiz (Memphis, Tenn. / Cordova) led the Hawks of Becker (7-5) with two goals, one coming in the 22nd minute off an assists from sophomore midfielder Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional), the second coming in the 64th minute.


Becker sophomore goalkeeper Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass. / Chicopee) had nine saves in net while RIC netminders junior Brianna Sousa (Warwick, RI/Toll Gate) and freshman Amber-Marie Francois (Warwick, RI/Toll Gate) each played a half.


The Hawks of Becker will look bounce back on Saturday when they will play at Newbury College in an 11:00 a.m. NECC matchup. The Anchorwomen play next at Wester Connecticut State on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
