Women’s Soccer succumbs to Mount Ida, 3-1

NEWTON, Mass. --- The Becker College women's soccer team lost 3-1 at Mount Ida College on Wednesday evening at Alumni Field in Newton.

The Hawks of Becker (4-2) took the lead in the 35th minute courtesy of sophomore Anja Russell (Cumberland, Maine), who scored her first goal of the season when she poked home a cross from senior Lauren Zaleski (Avon, Mass.). Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) had three saves in net.

For the Mustangs of Mt. Ida (2-4), freshman Mikayla Lovering (Colchester, Vt.) scored two goals while senior Libby Andreasen (Gorham, Maine) had one, representing the game-winner. Freshman AnnaMarie Seiler (Biddeford, Maine) made six saves to earn her first collegiate victory between the pipes.

Becker will look to bounce back on Saturday when they travel to Wheelock College for their NECC opener at 12:00 p.m. Mt. Ida hosts Anna Maria College on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
