LEICESTER, Mass. – Alison Mosdale tallied nine points too lead Becker College over Wheelock College 8-2 in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action Friday evening at Alumni Field.
Wheelock (2-14-0, 1-8-0 NECC) got the scoring started 3:49 into the game when Emma Spencer (Thomaston, Maine) tickled the top left corner of the twine from 20 yards out.
Becker (13-5-0, 6-3-0 NECC) answered back 1:19 later. Erika Galdamez (Concord, Calif.) fed Lindsay Keith (Sutton, Mass.) for her 11th maker of the season.
The Wildcats took the lead back at the 15:39 mark when Courtney Adams (Holliston, Mass.) connected with Emma Spencer on a breakaway goal.
The Hawks tied the game when Alison Mosdale (Marlborough, Conn.) tossed a throw in to the center of the field to Lauren Zaleski (Avon, Mass.), who tipped a shot through the hand of the Wheelock keeper. Mosdale netted her first goal of with 26:57 remaining in the first half on pass from Lindsey Keith to give the Hawks the lead for good.
Maria Colon (Wharton, N.J.) capped off the first half scoring when she put pack an Erika Galdamez corner in the 38th minute.
Mosdale got opened the second half with her 16th goal of the season. Meghan Bealka (Freetown, Mass.) fed Mosdale down the middle of the field for a breakaway goal to put Becker in front 5-2. In the 65th minute, Mosdale tossed a thrown in to Lauren Zaleski, who passed it back to Rebecca Carkhuff for her first goal of the season.
Lindsey Keith netted her second goal of the game with a header in the 73rd minute. Mosdale completed the hat-trick with 5:16 remaining in regulation on an assist from Elisa Costa (Troy, N.Y.).
Becker goalie Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) turned away three shots, while Amarielis Morales (Dorchester, Mass.) made 20 stops for the Wildcats.
Becker will continue its season on Tuesday, October 3 with the opening round of the New England Collegiate Conference Tournament. The seedings for the tournament will be released by the conference office on Sunday evening.
