Leicester, Mass. – A three goal deficit was too much for the Becker College women's soccer team to overcome. The Hawks dropped a 3-1 decision to Elms College on Saturday (October 3) at Alumni Field.
The loss dropped Becker's record to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the New England Collegiate Conference. The Blazers improved to 7-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the league.
Elms had a decided advantage offensively, outshooting the Hawks 16-8. Alexa Rinaudo got the win in goal for the Blazers while only making two saves. Taking the loss for the first time this season was Becker's Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass) as her record fell to 4-1. The freshman made five saves.
The visitors opened the scoring 12 minutes into the match when Brie Voight took a long pass from Kathleen Tuechler and slid it past Martel from 15 yards out. The Blazers added another goal in the 31st minute when Michelle Rossignol fired a rocket on goal that Martel got her hands on, but couldn't keep out of the net.
Voight got on the board for the second time when she took a long pass from Mackenzie LaRochelle – her second assist of the game - and put it in the back of the net from 12 yards out.
Becker's lone goal of the game came 10 minutes later. Sophomore Alison Mosdale's (Marlborough, Conn.) throw in was right on target and Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass.) headed it in from 13 yards out to put the Hawks on the board.
The Hawks will try to stop a two-match slide when they travel to Rhode Island College for a 4 p.m. match on Tuesday (October 6).
