LEICESTER, Mass.- Becker College defeated Nichols College 2-1 in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win lifts the Hawks record to 4-1 while the Bison fall to 1-4.
After a scoreless first half, the Bison got on the board with 34:13 remaining in regulation when Lauren MacGray (Norton, Mass.) threaded a pass to Meghan Dunn (Dudley, Mass.), who scored into the bottom left corner of the Hawks net.
In her first collegiate game, Becker freshman Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass.) tied the score in the 63rd minute on an assist from Alison Mosdale (Marlborough, Conn.). Becker captured what proved to be the game winner 1:58 later when Maria Colon (Wharton, N.J.) tickled the twine on a free kick from 22 yards out.
Becker goalkeeper Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass.) improved her record to 2-0 after making six saves. Kelly English (Mansfield, Mass.) made five stops in a losing effort.
Nichols returns to action on Friday, September 18 when they travel to CCC rival Endicott College at 4:00 p.m. Becker will host Mount Ida College on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m.
