LEICESTER, MASS. – Becker College senior Jodi Theriault (Woodstock, Conn.) scored three goals, propelling the Hawks to a 9-0 win over Daniel Webster College in New England Collegiate Conference women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon. The win lifts the Hawks to 5-5-2 overall and 3-1 in the NECC, while the Eagles sink to 1-7 and 0-3 in league play.
The Hawks got on the board just 00:31 into the game when Alysha Giulietti (Uncasville, Conn.) fed Theriault for her first goal of the game. Becker made the score 2-0 in the fourth minute when Alyssa Bond (Thompson, Conn.) scored her second goal of the season. The Hawks broke the game open in the sixth minute when Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) tallied her team best thirteenth goal of the season. Theriault added two more goals before the end of the first half, giving the Hawks a commanding 5-0 advantage.
Becker added four more goals in the second half. Junior Christina Boucher (Pawcatuck, Conn.) came off the bench to score her first two goals of the season. Plunkett finished a stellar afternoon with her second goal of the game, while assisting on three others.
Becker goalies Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.) and Melissa Rhodes (Mendon, Mass.) turned away two shots. The Hawks return to action Saturday, October 13, when they travel to Southern Vermont College at 1:00 p.m. Daniel Webster goalie Jennifer Fredericks (Beacon Falls, Conn.) made 11 saves in the loss. The Eagles will try to return to the win column on Saturday, when they travel to Regis College for a 2:30 p.m. tilt with Pride.
