LEICESTER, MASS. -Senior Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) had a hat trick in the first 30 minutes as Becker College defeated Bay Path College, 5-1 in NECC women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field. The Hawks of Becker are now 4-5-2 and 2-1 in the conference standings while the Wildcats of Bay Path drop to 2-7-1 and 1-2 in the NECC.
Plunkett had goals in the 16th, 23rd and 29th minutes, sandwiching a goal by freshman Jaclyn Organgio (Maynard, Mass.) 21st minute of play. The Hawks went into halftime with a 4-0 lead. Senior Jodi Theriault (Woodstock, Conn.) scored the sole Hawk goal in the second half, with that coming in the 76th minute of the game.
Bay Path scored its sole goal of the game with just 32 seconds left on a scary play when junior Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) collided with Becker junior goalkeeper Melissa Rhodes (Mendon, Mass.). Dougherty's kick found the back of the net to prevent the shutout.
