ENC Downs Women's Soccer In Overtime, 2-1

LEICESTER, MASS. – Becker College suffered a 2-1 overtime loss to Eastern Nazarene College in non-conference women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Field. The loss drops the Hawks to 3-3-2, while the Lions improve to 3-5-2.

The game was scoreless until the 59th minute when Tina Corey (Canterbury, Conn.) stole the ball from the Becker defender, breaking free down the left side of the field. Corey skipped a shot past the dive of Becker goalie Kaitlyn Rose (North Attleboro, Mass.), giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Becker tied the game in 65th minute when Caroline Plunkett (Belle Harbor, N.Y.) buried a shot into the top right corner of the Lions net for the equalizer.

The game remained tied until 3:49 into overtime when Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) scored on a breakaway, giving the Lions a dramatic 2-1 victory. Eastern Nazarene goalkeeper Kristen Farley (Westminster, Mass.) made three saves, while Rose made six saves for the Hawks.

Eastern Nazarene will return to action on Saturday, September 29th when they host Western New England University at 1:30pm. Becker will kickoff Family Weekend on Saturday when they host NECC rival Lesley University at 10:30am.
