LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's lacrosse team lost 15-3 to visiting Mount Ida College on Thursday evening at Alumni Field in Leicester.
The Mustangs of Mount Ida (4-1), with the eighth ranked offense in the nation, scored just 13 seconds into the game and led 3-0 after 50 seconds. Junior midfielder Alyssa Kelly (Lee, Mass. / Lee), who entered the game as the second-leading point earner in the nation, finished with three goals and two assists. Senior attacker Hayley Napier (Fairhaven, Mass. / Greater New Bedford Voke) finished with three goals and three assists while senior midfielder Emily McConnell (Dracut, Mass. / Greater Lowell Tech) posted a hat trick. Junior midfielder Brooke Scahill (Gales Ferry, Conn. / Ledyard) posted a goal and an assist while freshman attacker Jordyn Ringuette (Colchester, Conn. / Bacon Academy) and freshman defender Gabby Sanabria (Norwalk, Conn. / Norwalk) both scored. Mount Ida outshot Becker, 24-10.
The Hawks of Becker (0-3) were led by freshman midfielder Sydney Theriault (Brookfield, Conn. / Brookfield), who scored her first goal of the season with 17:43 to go in the game. Sophomore midfielder Cassandra Nelson (Exeter, N.H. / Exeter) scored her second goal of the season with 11:43 remaining. Finally, sophomore midfielder Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine / Boothbay Region) found the back of the net with 4:09 to go. Junior goalie Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine / Kents Hill) finished with four saves.
The Hawks of Becker will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they play host to the Massachusetts Maritime Academy at 4:00 p.m. The Mustangs of Mount Ida hosts Rivier College on Saturday beginning at 12:00 p.m.
