Women's Lacrosse Soars Into NECC Playoffs With 20-10 Win Over Mitchell

LEICESTER – Becker College defeated Mitchell College, 20-10, in New England Collegiate Conference women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.  The win brings the Hawks record to 8-9 (5-2 NECC), while the Mariners drop to 5-6 (3-4 NECC).

Erika Galdamez (Concord, Calif.) led the Hawks with four goals on the day. Senior Rachel Welling (Charlestown, N.H.) capped off her final regular season home game with three goals, including what proved to be the game winner with 4:19 remaining in the first half. Taryn Flebbe (Neptune, N.J.) also finished with a hat-trick.  Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, N.Y.), Victoria Belcher (Seekonk, Mass.) , Marissa Turner (Coventry, R.I.) and Lindsey Keithtickled the twine twice for the Hawks.

 

Mitchell's Katie McCormack (Narragansett, R.I.) lead all scorers with five goals. Ashley Murtha (South Windsor, Conn.) chipped in with three goals, while Francesca Pinard (Arlington, Mass.) finished with two makers for the Mariners. 

Hawks' goalkeeper Nikolle Storey (Cumberland, Maine) earned the win with seven saves.  Goalie Samantha Ryan (Quaker Hill, Conn.) suffered the loss with an impressive 20 saves for the Mariners.

 

Both teams will await the official seedings by the league office for the upcoming  NECC Women's Lacrosse Tournament.
