Leicester, Mass. – Senior Tatum Fahs (Foster, RI) posted her sixth hat trick (3 goals) of the season as the Becker College women's lacrosse team fell 15-7 to Colby-Sawyer College in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Junior Victoria Belcher (Seekonk, Mass.) paced the Lady Hawks with two goals while juniors Kailee Ruyack (Beacon, NY) and Rachel Welling (Charlestown, NH) accounted for the other two goals as the Hawks dip to 6-7 on the season.
Colby-Sawyer was led by freshman Nicole Lavigne (Berlin, Vt.) with four goals and an assist. A pair of Chargers each potted four points, senior Carly Baker (Beverly, Mass.) tossed in three goals and a helper while junior Caitlyn Whearty (Hampstead, NH) added two goals and two assists as Colby-Sawyer improves to 6-5 overall.
The Chargers sprinted to a quick 4-1lead; however the Hawks would answer with back-to-back goals from Belcher and Fahs to cut the deficit to 4-3 midway through the first half. Colby-Sawyer scored the next two goals and Becker would answer with a pair to push to scoreboard to 6-5 Chargers with 6:37 remaining. Sophomore Paige Prokop (Woburn, Mass.) and junior Sara Berry (Bowdinham, ME) would propel CS to an 8-5 advantage heading into intermission.
Becker would be outscored 7-2 in the second half as the Chargers pulled away for the 15-7 final.
Senior netminder Karena Prescott (New Bedford, Mass.) stopped 13 shots in the loss, while her counterpart Meghan Castellano (Wallingford, Conn.) posted 11 saves in the victory.
Both teams are back in action on Wednesday, the Hawks travel to Mount Ida College for a 6:30 p.m. start, while Colby-Sawyer travels to Johnson State College, game time is 4:00 pm.
