Women's Ice Hockey can't stop Morrisville State

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Ice Hockey team completed their Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) series sweep of the Becker College Hawks on Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 shutout victory.

In a near mirror image of the Friday night contest, the Mustangs came out dominating offensively. Unlike last night, they did not wait until the end of the first to start their scoring spree. Chyne Kennedy (Southwold, Ont.) tallied her fourth goal of the season to give Morrisville the 1-0 lead off of a one-timer to the lower right corner just 46 seconds into play. Ciara Lark (Mildmay, Ont.) and Mackenzie Lombardi (Hamilton, Ont.) picked up assists after working the puck around to Kennedy.

Just over two minutes later, Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, B.C.) crossed up the Hawks goaltender after receiving a pass from Lombardi for her seventh goal of the season and a 2-0 Morrisville lead.

The second goal forced an early Becker timeout, but that did not stop the Mustangs. Kylie Cameron (Burlington, Ont.) extended the Mustangs lead to 3-0 with a power play goal at the 6:58 mark. Kennedy started the play working the puck to Devlin cutting across the middle. Devlin took the shot, but it was headed wide before Cameron got her stick on the puck, redirecting it into the back of the net.

Morrisville continued their dominance in the second and third periods despite playing down twice in each of the final two periods due to penalties. While, the Mustangs did not score in the second, they did so in the third as Alexziz Giannamore (Pittsburgh, Pa.) broke away in transition in a 1 v goalie opportunity. Kimberly Hughes (Lloydminster, Alta.) and Ts'setkwu Dunstan (Kamloops, B.C.) picked up the assists when they worked the puck to Giannamore in the neutral zone before stepping off the ice for a line change.

Karoline Arvik (Trondheim, Norway) picked up her fifth shutout of the season, denying all six shots she faced.
