Becker College used a pair of stellar pitching performances and the visiting Hawks swept a New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) softball doubleheader from Dean College on Friday afternoon.

The Hawks, who were playing for the first time in two weeks, got ten strikeouts from Samantha Lee in the opener and then Samantha Belenchia spun a two-hit shutout in the nightcap.

Game 1: Becker 11, Dean 1
Becker grabbed an early 2-0 lead when Rebecca Carkuff delivered a two-run homer in the top of the first.

Lee tacked on another run in the fourth with a homerun of her own to highlight a five-run fifth that also featured a two-run single by Carkuff and a two-run hit from Sarah Ellis.

Down 7-0, Dean finally got on the board when a double steal by Cassandra Decuir (Massapequa, N.Y.) and Emily Whelton (Dracut, Mass.) saw Whelton scamper home for the Bulldogs' lone run of the game.

Becker added four runs in the sixth, getting two of those runs courtesy of Samantha Buzgo.

Lee allowed just three hits in the circle for the Hawks to go along with her ten strikeouts.

Game 2: Becker 8, Dean 0
In the nightcap, the Hawks sealed the win with a six-run fifth after already having a 2-0 advantage.

The Becker offense got two runs in the third when Carkuff and Ellis smacked back-to-back homeruns.

In the fifth, the Hawks got a two-run homerun from Lee and an Ellis two-run single to push the game out of reach.
