Men's Soccer flies past Owls, 6-0

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College men's soccer team won 6-0 over visiting University of Maine at Presque Isle on Saturday at Alumni Field in Leicester.

The opening half saw the Hawks' offense put on one of their most aggressive displays of the season with 18 total shots. The game was nevertheless scoreless until the 31st minute when junior defender Ryan Jacksin (Franklin, Conn. / Norwich Free Academy) found freshman midfielder Lemar Baptista (Brockton, Mass. / Cardinal Spellman) with a beautiful pass as the rookie broke free of the defense, finishing with a header for his second goal of the season to put Becker ahead 1-0.

Then in the 42nd minute, freshman forward Colby Koch (Norfolk, Mass. / King Philip Regional) used a centering pass to find junior forward Benjamin Noyes (Middleton, Mass. / Masconomet) for an easy tip-in into the corner of the net for his first goal of the season. The Hawks went into halftime leading 2-0.

In the second half, Becker scored just three-and-a-half minutes in when sophomore midfielder Matthew Hillsberg (Burlington, Conn. / Lewis S. Mills) took a penalty kick and converted, putting the Hawks up 3-0.

In the 62nd minute, Koch found Baptista for his second goal of the game. Six minutes later, Becker junior defender Jakob Franklin (Warwick, R.I. / Bishop Hendricken) scored his first goal of the season as the Hawks went up 5-0.

Finally, in the 88th minute, Noyes made a move and scored his second goal of the season from the left-hand side.
Becker freshman goalkeeper Sam Majewski (Warren, Mass. / Quaboag Regional Middle) finished with four saves in net for his second shutout of the season. UMPI senior goalkeeper Matthew Manter (Caribou, Maine / Caribou) tallied 13 stops. The Hawks outshot the Owls, 34-7.

Becker will be back on the field on Wednesday when they host Eastern Nazarene University at 4:00 p.m. UMPI will have a quick turnaround on Sunday when they head to Fisher College for a 12:00 p.m. contest.
