Davis’ 28 points leads Men's Basketball over Clark, 92-73

LEICESTER, Mass. --- Junior guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) scored a season-high 28 points as the Becker College men's basketball team won 92-73 over visiting Clark University on Thursday evening at the Leicester Gymnasium.

Davis shot 50 percent from behind the arc for the Hawks of Becker (3-3), and dished out five assists while collecting three steals and playing all 40 minutes. Junior forward Bernard Broaster (Pembroke Pines, Fla. / Charles W. Flanagan) finished with 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. Junior forward Dewayne Thomas (Springfield, Mass. / Lowell) pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds while scoring nine points. Sophomore forward Donzell Cunningham (Linden, N.J. / Piscataway) came off the bench to score 13 points with five rebounds in 19 minutes. Junior guard Jalen Robinson (Queens, N.Y. / Manhasset) came off the bench to score 13, shooting three-of-three from the field and six-of-six from the line. Senior forward Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y. / Campus Magnet) scored six points with five rebounds, dishing out six assists, matching a career-high. Collectively, the Hawks shot 45 percent from behind the arc.

The Cougars of Clark (2-4) were led by junior small forward Luca McCormick (Fort Lauderdale, Fla. / IMG Academy) with 26 points with eight rebounds while freshman forward Tyler Davern (Webster, Mass. / Bartlett Junior-Senior) came off the bench to score 17 points with four rebounds. Freshman guard Biko Gayman (Fort Pierce, Fla. / Lincoln Park Academy) finished with 12 points.

The first half was hotly contested. Becker went up by 15 with 8:05 to go in the first off a three from Davis, only to watch Clark pull to within eight with the score at 31-23 with 6:35 to go. The Hawks led at the break, 44-31.

In the second, the Hawks were threatening to pull away but the Cougars answered, scrapping their way back into the game with a 13-4 run. Clark got as close as eight before Becker found their stroke again, pulling away down the stretch with superior scoring off the bench.

The 29 points of bench scoring were a season high for the Hawks.

Becker is back on the court when they travel to Worcester State on Tuesday night for a 7:00 p.m. game. Clark plays at Framingham State on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
