Junior guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) of the Becker College men's basketball team has been named the New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for the week ending November 19, 2017. Davis was likewise recognized as Player of the Week by the Worcester Area College Basketball Association for the same period.
Davis had a strong start to his 2017-2018 season, averaging 25 points per game, with 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.5 steals. He shot 53.6 percent from the floor, and 50 percent from behind the arc. In a season-opening overtime loss against Anna Maria, Davis scored 24 points, while adding four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Becker bounced back against Brandeis, with an 84-83 win over the Judges. Davis led Becker on a late game rally, as the Hawks were down by nine with four minutes to go. Playing all 40 minutes, he led all scorers with 26 points, while also grabbing seven rebounds and adding five assists with two steals.
Further, Davis was named Becker Athlete of the Week.
He'll look to lead the Hawks against the Beavers of Babson College on Tuesday, November 21 as Becker hosts the number seven team in the country at 2:00 p.m.
