DUDLEY, Mass. --- The Becker College men's basketball team won 97-92 at Nichols College on Monday night in Dudley, Massachusetts. The Hawks of Becker improve to 2-3 while the Bison of Nichols fall to 2-2.
Becker junior forward Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y. / Campus Magnet) led all scorers with 27 points while pulling down nine rebounds. Sophomore guard Kareem Davis (Lowell, Mass. / St. John's) finished with 24 points, shooting 10 of 11 from the free throw line. Junior guard Antonio White Jr. (Middletown, Conn. / Middletown) had a fine stat line with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists a steal and a block. Senior guard Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y. / Benjamin N. Cardozo) finished with 12 points, five rebounds, four assists and a game-high three steals. Collectively, Becker shot 50 percent from behind the arc.
Nichols freshman DeAnte Bruton (New London, Conn.) scored a career-high 36 points. Bruton – who was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week earlier today – shot 13-of-26 from the field (8-of-10 FT). Classmate Jerome Cunningham (Westbury, N.Y.) chipped in with eight points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks while sophomore Marcos Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) scored 20 points.
Down by 12 with six minutes left in the first half, the Hawks rallied with a 21-4 run, capped off with a three-point from Davis with 49 seconds. Becker went into the break leading 42-39. After the Bison opened the second half with a basket to pull to within one, the Hawks busted out a 17-5 run and never looked back.
Becker is back on the court on Thursday when they travel to Clark University for a 5:30 p.m. game. Nichols hosts Roger Williams University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
