Men's Basketball Closes First Semester With Loss To Salem State

LEICESTER, Mass.- Becker College fell to Salem State University 101-73 in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Leicester Gymnasium. The win evens the Vikings record to 5-5 while the Hawks sink to 2-6

Salem State was led by sophomore Billy Muse (Salem, Mass.) with 19 points. Muse was five of nine from beyond the arc.  Shaquan Murray (Boston, Mass.) added 15 points while finishing an assist shy of a double-double.  Zach Hurynowicz (Burlington, Mass.) and Marcus Faison (Cambridge, Mass.) chipped in with 14 points each. Faison earned a double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds.

 

After leading by 11 at halftime, the Vikings broke the game open in the second stanza after shooting 61 percent from the field.

 

Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y.) tied Muse with a game-high 19 points. Credle also dished out a team-best four assists.  Reginald Finney (Ansonia, Conn.) finished with ten points when Samuel Durodola (Rosedale, N.Y.) and Rashuan Liggon (Elizabeth, N.J.) scored nine points each.

 

Salem State will shoot for back-to-back wins when they host Endicott College in the Salem State Holiday Classic on Tuesday, December 29 at 8:00 p.m. Becker returns to action on Saturday, January 2 when they travel to New York University to play Emmanuel College in the NYU Holiday Classic at 2:00 p.m.
