NASHUA, N.H. – Men's basketball defeated Daniel Webster College 65-55 in their regular season finale Friday night to earn a spot in the NECC Tournament.
The Eagles (8-17, 7-9 NECC) earn the sixth seed for the upcoming NECC championship tournament, and will travel to an as-yet-determined third seeded team next Tuesday beginning at 7:00 p.m. in a quarterfinal matchup. Tournament seedings will be settled by late Saturday afternoon.
Kyle Credle (Queens, N.Y.) paced the Hawks (14-11, 10-6 NECC) with a game-high 19 points while Tyler Roberson (Irvington, N.J.) netted 12 points and eight rebounds and Donovin Ford-Hayes (Windsor Locks, Conn.) picked up 10 points. Scott Dulaire (Bloomfield, Conn.) pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds, adding six points while Rashaun Liggon (Elizabeth, N.J.) chipped in with eight points and seven caroms.
Kevin Perez (Nashua) led the Eagles with 15 points while Daris Cosby (Utica, N.Y.) notched 14 with three three-pointers. Ryan Gauthier (Nashua) added a double double of 12 points and 10 boards. Aiden Collins (Paterson, N.J.) picked up six points and eight rebounds.
Becker used its six advantage to earn an important 50-36 advantage under the glass and added a 28-18 scoring victory in the paint. DWC shot 35-percent in the first half and lead 31-28 at the break, but shot just 29-percent in the second and the Hawks outscored the hosts 37-24.
Two Gauthier free throws gave DWC 45-43 lead with 7:17 left before Dulaire and Ford-Hayes bookended a 10-0 run with three-point plays, respectively to give Becker a 53-45 advantage with 4:47 to go.
A Perez trey pulled the hosts back within three at the 4:13 mark but For-Hayes converted and drew the foul again 17 seconds later and a Roberson three and two at the line from Credle pushed the lead to its largest at 11 (61-50) with 1:47 left to ice the victory.
