LEICESTER, Mass. – Becker College defeated Mitchell College 88-66 in New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball action Thursday evening. The win lifts the Hawks record to 13-8 (9-3 NECC), while the Mariners sink to 15-5 (11-2 NECC).
The Hawks shot a blazing 57 percent from the field, with four of their starters scoring in double figures. Donovin Ford-Hayes (Windsor, Conn.) went 6 for 11 from three point range, scoring a game high 24 points. Rashaun Liggon (Elizabeth, N.J.) finished 15 points and a game best 14 rebounds to earn a double-double. David Maturah (Windsor Locks, Conn.) added 15 points, while Tyler Roberson chipped in with 14 points.
Mitchell was led by Parris Hill with a team high 15 points. Senior Joshua Ford (Jersey City, N.J.) netted 13 points, while Frank Martin (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) finished with 11 points. Damion Hewitt (Hartford, Conn.) came off the bench to pull down a team best eight rebounds.
Becker returns to action on Saturday, February 8 when they travel to Lesley University at 2:00 p.m. The Mariners will try to right the ship when they travel to Connecticut College on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00 p.m.
