Men's Basketball Climbs Past Mountaineers

LEICESTER, Mass.– Becker College defeated Southern Vermont College 64-51 in New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball action Tuesday evening at the Leicester Gymnasium. The win lifts the Hawks record to 5-5 (2-0 NECC), while the Mountaineers fall to 7-4 (1-1 NECC).

Becker was led by David Maturah (Windsor Locks, Conn.) with a game-high 19 points, going seven for ten from the floor. Rashaun Liggon (Elizabeth, N.J.), Donovin Ford-Hayes (Windsor Locks, Conn.), and Tyler Roberson (Irvington, N.J.) finished with eight points each. Darius Sealy dished out a game-high five assists.
The mountaineers were led by DeShawn Hamlet (Hartford, Conn.) with a team-high 17 points and game-high 12 rebounds. Rayshawn Taylor chipped in with 15 points and six rebounds.
Both teams return to action on Thursday, January 9 when Becker hosts Regis College at 8:00 p.m. Southern Vermont will return home for a 7:00 p.m. tilt with Newbury College.
