PURCHASE, N.Y. – On senior day for the Valiants, a fitting duo of seniors Ameerah Thomas (Norfolk, Va.) and Robin Boot (Bedum, Netherlands) combined for five of Manhattanville's six goals, as the Valiants pulled out a senior day win over the Becker Hawks 6-1 on Saturday in New England Collegiate Conference play.

After a scoreless first quarter, Thomas scored the first of her three on the afternoon at 23:33.
Following a Hawks foul, Thomas received a pass about 12 yards from goal and shot a reverse sweep into the right-side of the Hawks goal, giving the Valiants a 1-0 lead.
Thomas was at it again just over three minutes later, doubling the Manhattanville lead to 2-0. Thomas scored off a pass from senior Maisey Kettlewood (Nottingham, N.H.).
The Valiants made it 3-0 before halftime on a goal by freshman Ava Panzer (Pawling, N.Y.). The play originated on a shot from Thomas that was deflected by Panzer for her eighth goal of the season.
Boot made it 4-0, stuffing home a rebound from close range just after halftime. Thomas capped off her hat trick at 49:12, connecting once again with Kettlewood to give Manhattanville a 5-0 lead and Thomas her team-leading 15th goal of the season.
Hawks senior Katherine Bernier (Dudley, Mass.) broke the clean sheet for Manhattanville, scoring in the fourth quarter.
After a steal by sophomore Emily Iacovelli (Northbridge, Mass.), Iacovelli slid a pass into the arc for Bernier, who fired a one-timer past the Valiants goalie, cutting the deficit to 5-1.
Boot would finish the scoring for Manhattanville late in the match, stealing a ball in the Hawks defensive end and chipping it past the goalie for a 6-1 lead.
FOR THE HAWKS
- Bernier's goal is her first of the season. Iacovelli moves to three assists on the tally.
- Sophomore goalie Baileigh Griese (Woodstock, N.Y.) made eight saves, falling to 6-9 with the loss.
FOR THE VALIANTS
- Thomas and Boot both finished with an assist in addition to their goals. Thomas went for seven points while Boot finished with five.
- Kettlewood finished with three helpers, a new career-high in assists in a match.
- Sophomore Zoe Fillebrown (Nashua, N.Y.) recorded one save in the win, moving to 9-1 this season.
The Hawks return home for a conference match on Tuesday with New England College at Alumni Field in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness Game, starting at 3:00 p.m. The Valiants will wait a week before traveling to the aforementioned New England College for an NECC match with them on Oct. 26 at 2:00 p.m.
