Four Hawks Named to NFHCA 2018 DIII National Academic Squad; Niemann Recognized as Scholar of Distinction

LEICESTER, Mass. – Four Becker College student-athletes have been named to the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Squad, as announced by the association on March 20.

 

Samantha Carter (Boothbay Harbor, Maine), Baileigh Griese (Woodstock, N.Y.), Kylian Kelly (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Lauren Niemann (Bay Shore, N.Y.) were the four Becker field hockey student-athletes recognized.

 

The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.3 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.  This year, a total of 1,746 student-athletes from 147 Division III institutions earned recognition on the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.

 

In additon to earning a spot on the National Academic Squad, Niemann was recognized as a Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Scholars of Distinction, as announced on March 27.  She is one of 268 Division III student-athletes to earn this accolade.  The Division III Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of a 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year. 

 

The Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA National Scholar-Athlete will be announced on April 3.
