LEICESTER, Mass. --- Five student-athletes from the Becker College football team were named to the 2018 Worcester Area Football Association Steve "Merc" Morris All-Star Team in an announcement by the Association on Wednesday.

Earning spots on the first team are senior offensive tackle Daniel Whittenburg (Eastford, Conn. / Woodstock Academy) and senior linebacker Michael Bianco (Manorville, N.Y. / Eastport-South Manor).

Whittenburg anchored the Hawks' offensive line, and has been a four-year starter for the Hawks. The senior team captain also ran the ball for a touchdown during the game against the Nor'Easters, which marked the first of his career.

Bianco, a two-year starter, totaled 95 tackles this season (40 assisted), and recorded two sacks and 11 tackles for a loss, while also forcing three fumbles, intercepting two passes, and breaking up one pass. In his final home game of his storied career, he also recorded his second career touchdown, totaling 180 rushing yards and 10 receiving yards in the win over the University of New England.

Second team recipients included junior guard Austin Ryan (Apopka, Fla. / Apopka), rookie defensive back Materrence Holloway (Tampa, Fla. / Hillsborough), and senior defensive lineman Brandon Mole (Bovina, N.Y. / Delaware Academy).

Mole, a team captain, completed his career with 41 tackles (17 assisted), three sacks, 8.5 tackles for a loss, one forced fumble, a fumble recovery, a breakup and a blocked kick.

Ryan started all 10 games on the offensive line for the Hawks during the 2018 season.

The Worcester Area Football Association All-Star Team is named in the memory of Steve "Merc" Morris, the longtime Assistant Director of Athletics for Media Relations and Assumption Hall of Famer. "Merc" was a 1972 graduate of Assumption and was a member of the athletics staff for 39 years before passing away in January of 2011. In addition to being the founder of the Worcester Area Association All-Star program, he was a tireless supporter of collegiate athletics in the Worcester area and had a key role in the lives of thousands of student-athletes.
