The Becker College football team saw eight of their players recognized by the Eastern College Football Conference on Thursday as the conference announced their 2016 All-Conference Teams. The honorees are selected by a vote of conference coaches.
Senior defensive lineman Alexander Stewart (Gifford, Fla. / Sebastian River) and senior defensive back Davin Collins (Far Rockaway, N.Y. / New Utrecht) were both named First Team Defense. Stewart proved to be a dominant force on the line, finishing with nine sacks in ten games. Collins had three interceptions, seven pass break-ups and 60 tackles. Collins also returned 24 kicks with a 21.2 yard return average.
Senior running back Jacob Holmes (Worcester, Mass. / Westborough), senior wide receiver DeJahn Dawkins (East Hartford, Conn. / Cheney Tech) and senior linebacker LaDarrius Carter (Capitol Heights, Md. / Paloma Valley) all earned Second Team honors. Holmes led the team in rushing with 390 yards and hauled in 21 receptions for another 208 yards, finishing with a combined six touchdowns. Dawkins was the team's leading receiver with 30 catches for 365 yards and four touchdowns. Carter led the defense with 91 tackles including nine for a loss.
Honorable mention accolades when to junior linebacker Angel Flores (Azusa, Calif. / Azusa), junior defensive back Shane Padeni (Leicester, Mass. / Leicester) and sophomore defensive lineman Daniel Whittenburg (Eastford, Conn. / Woodstock Academy). Jacob Holmes also received an honorable mention for special teams, serving as the Hawks' field goal and extra-point kicker
