Balanced Effort Lifts Football Over Gallaudet In ECFC Opener

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Quarterback Nas Sinkfield-Shelton (New Rochelle, N.Y.) completed 12 of 22 passes for 132 yards and four touchdowns to help visiting Becker get past the Gallaudet University 42-18 in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference action Saturday afternoon. The evens the Hawks record to 2-2 (1-0 ECFC) while the Bison fall to 1-3 (0-1 ECFC) .

Sinkfield-Shelton found Michael Caban (Lawrence, Mass.) for a 10-yard touchdown pass with 55 seconds left in the first half to send Becker into the locker room with a 21-12 lead.

Sinkfield-Shelton kept slinging to start the second half, hitting Caban for a 5-yard score to cap a 12-play, 93-yard drive in the third quarter.

After a fumble recovery gave the Hawks the ball on the Gallaudet 43-yard line to open the fourth quarter, Sinkfield-Shelton connected with Brandon Mulling (Naples, Fla.) on the first play for a touchdown. Jacob Holmes (Westborough, Mass.) booted the extra point to make it 35-12.

Caban caught four passes for 22 yards and two touchdowns, while Mulling pulled down three for 43 yards and a score. Sinkfield-Shelton rushed 11 times for 91 yards.

Holmes opened the game with a 15-yard touchdown catch, while teammate Davin Collins (Far Rockaway, N.Y.) returned a punt 41 yards for another score, and James Chambers (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) closed out the scoring with a 23-yard interception return.

Angel Flores (Azusa, Calif.) led the Becker defense with eight tackles (5 solo), while Alexander Stewart (Gifford, Fla.) had two sacks and Collins had two picks. Shane Padeni (Leicester, Mass.) had six tackles (3 solo).

Becker will return to action on Saturday, October 8th when they host Norwich University in ECFC action at 2:00 p.m.
