Equestrian competes at URI

Equestrian 11/10/18 release

KINGSTON, R.I. --- The Becker College equestrian team competed at the URI show in Kingston on Saturday.

Captain Valerie Slimskey placed fifth in the intermediate fences division, and rode well in a large open flat class.

Freshman Kennedy Sheehan won her class in novice over fences, and placed fourth in intermediate flat.

Freshman Maddie Gesmondi won her novice flat class, and placed sixth over fences.

Sophomore Lexi Nieves was awarded third place in her novice flat class, and rode competitively in novice over fences.

Captain Layne Koeppel won first place in her novice flat class, and juniors Madii Ahn and Alexa Bridges rode competitively in their novice flat classes as well.

Riders in the Walk-Trot-Canter Equitation division all rode well in their classes.

Sophomore Courtney Furlong was awarded second place; senior Robyn Wozniak, sophomore Ashley Foss, and freshman Jessica Santoro each placed fifth in their classes; freshman Brianna Fitzgerald was awarded third place, making her debut in her first ever horse show; and seniors Kimberly Delorto and Emily Barilone rounded out the day in the Walk-Trot Equitation division, Delorto placing sixth.
