Becker College Celebrates National Student Athlete Day

LEICESTER, Mass.- Becker College joined over 450  institutions throughout the country when they celebrated National Student Athlete Day on Wednesday, April 10.

All 16 of the Becker College athletic programs were represented at National Student Athlete Day, totaling 161 athletes. 

Eight student-athletes were also inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma. Chi Alpha Sigma recognizes students who fulfilled the requirements of receiving a varsity level in their sport while maintaining a 3.4 or higher GPA, after receiving 60 credits. The mission of the NCAHS is to bring honor and recognition to deserving student-athletes, their families, teams, athletic departments and colleges.

Chi Alpha Sigma Inductees:

Jessica Brochu (Softball- Veterinary Medicine with a concentration in Pre-Vet)

Katelyn Burns (Volleyball- Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Science)

Taylor Kapulka (Baseball- Criminal Justice)

Maggie Levesque (Softball- Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Science and Crime Scene Processing)

Tim MacDonald (Soccer- Business with a concentration in Marketing)

Tom Natoli (Baseball & Ice Hockey- Elementary Education)

Mike Schoen (Baseball- Sports Management)

Mike Smith (Baseball- Elementary Education)

To cap off National Student-Athlete Day, the softball team was awarded the President’s Cup. The President’s Academic Cup is given every semester to the team with the highest average semester GPA. Their team GPA was a 3.19 narrowly beating out the Equestrian team who earned a 3.17.
