Balanced attack leads Women's Soccer past Newbury

LEICESTER, Mass. --- The Becker College women's soccer team defeated visiting Newbury College 6-0 on Saturday at Alumni Field in Leicester.

The Hawks of Becker improve their overall record to 7-6 and their New England Collegiate Conference record to 3-1. The Nighthawks of Newbury fall to 2-11 overall and 1-3 in the NECC.

Becker junior forward Lindsey Keith (Sutton, Mass. / Sutton) continued her brilliant season, scoring two goals including the eventual game-winner and moving in to a tie for the NECC lead in total goals at 19 as of press time.

The Hawks also had goals from junior midfielder Anja Russell (Cumberland, Maine / Greely), senior midfielder Meghan Bealka (Freetown, Mass. / Apponequet Regional), sophomore defender Kyra Teixeira (Old Lyme, Conn. / Lyme Old Lyme) and sophomore forward Adrianna Lake (Fitchburg, Mass. / Montachusett Regional).

Becker junior goalkeeper Jordyn Martel (Chicopee, Mass. / Chicopee) picked up the shutout victory. Newbury junior goalkeeper Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass. / Fontbonne Academy) tallied 12 saves in net. The Hawks outshot the Nighthawks, 41-0.

Becker will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Bay Path University for a 4:00 p.m. game. Newbury travels to Elms College on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
