PAWTUCKET, R.I. – After skating to a 2-2 tie last night, Johnson & Wales nipped the Hawks of Becker College in overtime, as Cassie Wakefield (North Vancouver, B.C.) slotted in the game-winner with 1:05 remaining in overtime for the Wildcat's game-winner.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The first two periods were scoreless. Johnson & Wales outshot the Hawks 13-6 in the first, and 11-6 in the second.

The first marker of the game came at 8:03 in the third period when extra skater Drea Westgaard (Elk River, Minn.) picked up a pass from Victoria Perez (Livonia, Mich.) and put it past Madison Rigsby (O'Fallon, Mo.) for her first goal of the season.

Johnson & Wales was on its way to victory, but Becker took advantage of back-to-back penalties as Gabby Petrisin's (High Bridge, N.J.) slap shot, assisted by Michaela Martin (Sheldon, Vt.), beat Johnson & Wales goalie Jasmine Mucci (Arlington, Mass.) top shelf to force overtime. This marks Petrisin's first collegiate goal.

With 1:05 remaining in the overtime period, Wakefield broke free from traffic with the puck and chipped a shot over Rigsby's right pad to win the game.
