Women's Hockey Plays To Another Stalemate Against Johnson & Wales

Bailey Coons and the women's ice hockey team skated to a 1-1 tie against Johnson and Wales Sunday afternoon.

PAWTUCKET, R.I, – The Becker College women's ice hockey team skate to a 1-1 tie against Johnson & Wales in Colonial Hockey Conference action Sunday afternoon. The tie slides the Hawks record to 1-4-2 (1-1-2 CHC), while the Wildcats move to 0-5-3 (0-3-3 CHC).

Johnson & Wales snatched the first goal of the game midway through the first period. Linn Fernstrom's (Karlstad, Sweden) slap shot from the point hit Madison Rigby's stick and hoped over the Becker goalie's shoulder for the power play goal. It's the first goal of Fernstrom's collegiate career.

Becker took advantage of a power play opportunity in the second period to even the game. Claudia Gee put back the rebound of Bailey Coons' shot at the 8:42 mark.

Neither team could find a rhythm offensively in the third period and overtime. The Wildcats and Hawks combined for only 13 shots in the final 25 minutes of play.

Becker goalie Madison Rigsby registered 33 saves for the Hawks.
