LEICESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) scored 27 points as the Becker College women's basketball team won 53-45 over visiting Wheelock College on Tuesday evening in New England Collegiate Conference play at the Leicester Gymnasium.
Harrison also finished with four steals and four rebounds for the Hawks of Becker (14-10, 10-5 NECC), while going eight-for-eight from the line. Junior forward Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn. / Hill Regional Career) posted a double-double with 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks. Junior guard Katey Anderson (Beachwood, N.J. / Toms River) finished with five points and three steals.
The Wildcats of Wheelock (7-13, 6-9 NECC) received a dominant performance from junior forward Katie Walsh (East Islip, N.Y. / East Islip) with an incredible 30 points, 27 rebound performance to go along with three blocks. Senior forward Gaby Haywood (East Longmeadow, Mass. / East Longmeadow) added six points and seven rebounds.
Becker led by as much as 17 late in the third quarter before Wheelock exploded with a 17-2 rally, capped off with a jumper from junior Sarah Tobin to pull within two with 4:39 to go. But Becker scored the next seven points to pull away down the stretch.
The Hawks will be back on the court on Saturday when they play at Mitchell College in their regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. The Wildcats will host Dean College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. in their next contest.
