LEICESTER, Mass. --- Sophomore guard Cassidy Harrison (Foxborough, Mass. / Foxborough) scored 22 points to lead the Becker College women's basketball team to a 66-27 victory over visiting Southern Vermont College on Tuesday night at the Leicester Gymnasium in a New England Collegiate Conference showdown.
Harrison shot nine of twelve from the floor and four of five from behind the three-point arc for the Hawks of Becker (5-4, 3-0 NECC). Harrison also stifled the Mountaineers at the defensive end, accumulating six steals. Junior forward Adrianna Dowdy (East Haven, Conn. / Hill Regional Career) finished with ten points, four rebounds and two steals in just 17 minutes. Junior forward Ciara McKissick (Charlton, Mass. / Shepherd Hill Regional) had nine points, five rebounds and four steals. Sophomore guard Mariah Triplett (Coral Springs, Fla. / Piper) dished out a career-high seven assists. Collectively, the Hawks had 23 steals, while the Becker bench outscored Southern Vermont's reserves, 22-7.
The Mountaineers of Southern Vermont (2-9, 1-3 NECC) were led by sophomore forward Taylor Mallett (Berwick, Maine/Noble) with ten points and five rebounds while junior guard Maddy Main (Bennington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) filled the stat line with six points, ten rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
Becker will return from their winter break on Tuesday, January 2nd when the team hosts Mount Ida College in a 7:00 p.m. game. Southern Vermont will face their next opponent on Saturday, December 16th when they host SUNY Cobleskill in a 1:00 p.m. game.
