Score: Curry 2, Becker 1

FIRST HALF
In the opening period, Curry came out as the aggressor, creating several worthy scoring opportunities early on. Becker junior goalkeeper Marco De Lauri (Edgware, U.K. / Stanmore) and the Hawk defense proved up to the challenge, however, funneling the Colonels into low-percentage shots. With six minutes to go in the half, Becker sophomore forward Colby Koch (Norfolk, Mass. / King Philip Regional) had the Hawks' best scoring opportunity coming up to the box from the right side, but he was blocked by Curry junior defender Mitchell Forbes (Boxford, Mass. / Masconomet). Moments later, Becker freshman forward Isaiah McCaskill (Springfield, Mass. / Springfield Renaissance) launched a perfect from right in front of the Curry net but was unable to connect with a striker. The Colonels would answer in the 43rd minute, however, as Curry freshman midfielder Will Longo (Ellington, Conn. / Ellington) hit junior midfielder Claudio Orsini (Watertown, Conn. / Watertown) with a cross from the deep-right corner for the finish as the Colonels went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

SECOND HALF
The first ten minutes of the second half saw more action than the entire first period combined as both teams scrambled to make an impact. Becker struck first as freshman forward Juma Kombe (Leominster, Mass. / Leominster) launched a cross from the left side and found a header for McCaskill after a failed clear from the defense. It was McCaskill's second goal of his career. Just 1:07 later, Curry was awarded a free kick, and Orsini launched it into the net from 25 yards out for his third goal of the season. The Colonels retook the lead at 2-1, which would hold up for the final score.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
• Curry concluded the match with a 23-15 advantage in shots.
• De Lauri finished with eight saves in net for Becker while Curry junior goalkeeper Paul DeMaio (North Andover, Mass. / North Andover) had three stops.
• McCaskill and Orsini both led their respective teams in total shots with five each.
• Four seasons ago, Becker lost to Curry, 9-1. Last season, the Hawks lost to the Colonels in a 4-0 final.
• In a statistical oddity, four of Becker's first five games of the season have finished in 2-1 losses.
