Boutiette’s six goals lead Men's Lacrosse past Wildcats

LEICESTER, Mass. --- Senior attacker Blake Boutiette (Burrillville, R.I. / Burriville) scored a season-high six goals as the Becker College men's lacrosse team won 11-3 over visiting Wheelock College on Tuesday evening at Alumni Field in Leicester in the New England Collegiate Conference opener for both teams.

The Hawks of Becker (3-7, 1-0 NECC) got on the board first when Boutiette scored his 16th goal of the season with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Just 1:30 later, Boutiette scored again to put Becker up 2-0. That score held up through the end of the first quarter. With 11:02 in the second, junior midfielder Blake Gordon (East Greenbush, N.Y. / LaSalle Institute) took a pass from senior attacker Daniel Johnson (Plymouth, Mass. / Plymouth South) and finished for his eighth goal of the year, and the Hawks led 3-0. With 7:46 to go in the first half, Boutiette found junior attacker Avyay Chaganty (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) for the junior's team-leading 20th goal of the season, as Becker went ahead 4-0. Finally, with 2:44 to go in the half, Boutiette completed his hat trick with a score from a Chaganty pass to close out the half with the Hawks firmly in control, up 5-0.

The Wildcats of Wheelock (1-7, 0-1 NECC) finally got on the board 39 seconds into the third quarter when freshman attacker Luke McKinnon (Cambridge, Mass. / Cambridge Rindge and Latin) scored on an unassisted shot. Becker answered three minutes later, as Boutiette found Chaganty once again. Then with 10:44 to go, Chaganty passed to freshman midfielder Jack Schneider (Morrisville, Vt. / Peoples Academy) for his fourth goal of the season as Becker went ahead 7-1. Wheelock sophomore attacker Keenan Brown (Salem, Mass. / Salem) got the Wildcats back on the board with 9:32 to go in the third, but Becker answered the challenge once again when Chaganty hit senior midfielder Cruz Desrochers (Malden, Mass. / Malden) for his third goal of the season as the Hawks went up 8-2 taking it to the end of the third quarter.

Boutiette was not finished. The senior exploded for three more goals in a 2:28 stretch in the fourth quarter as Becker pulled away. Wheelock refused to quit late, as freshman midfielder Jared Trainor (Franklin, Mass. / Franklin) scored to make it 11-3 for the final score.

Becker freshman goalie Trey McMillen (Grapevine, Tex. / Grapevine) finished the day with eight saves, earning his third win of the season. Wheelock sophomore goalie Josh DiMassa (Branford, Conn. / The Gunnery) recorded ten stops. The Hawks outshot the Wildcats, 33-19.
