Nichols Pushes Past Men’s Ice Hockey with Three Third Period Goals

HARRISVILLE, R.I. – Three third period goals from the Bison helped Nichols College defeat Becker College 6-3 in Saturday evening Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

FIRST PERIOD

Becker's Cody Foster (Saugus, Calif.) held off 14 Bison shots on net in the first period to keep the score at 0-0 heading into the second period.

 

SECOND PERIOD

The second period saw a total of six goals – three from Becker and three from Nichols.  Becker was the first to reach the board just under two minutes in on a tally from James Perry (Atkinson, N.H.) – his first collegiate goal.  The goal was assisted by Charles Costello (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Romain Wild (Mex, Switzerland).  Nichols tied the score at 1-1 on a Vincent Crivello (Rosemere, Que.) goal seven minutes in on helpers from Hogan Davidson (Duluth, Minn.) and Frank Zak (Farmington Hills, Mich.). The teams traded goals twice more, as the score was 3-3 at the end of the frame. Corey Schafer (Johnstown, Pa.) and Stephen Wolf (Somersworth, N.H.) scored for Becker, while Curtis Carlson (Lakewood, N.Y.) and Nicholas Mangone (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) scored for the Bison.

 

THIRD PERIOD

The third period proved to be in favor of Nichols, as the Bison sent home three goals in the final frame. Crivello found his second goal of the night 7:09 into the period. Petr Miko (Zlin, Czech Republic) scored the Bison's fifth goal, and Mangone notched another goal late in the period for the 6-3 final score.

 

BETWEEN THE PIPES

  • The Bison outshot the Hawks 45-15.
  • Foster suffered his first loss of the season in a 39-save performance.
  • Nichols' Henry Burns (Camillus, N.Y.) won his third of the year, stopping 12-of-15 shots on net.

 

UP NEXT

Becker returns home on Tuesday (Nov. 20) when they will entertain New England College in a 6:50 p.m. tilt at the Worcester Ice Center.
