Foster Makes 53 Saves as Men's Hockey Blanks Nichols

Charles Costello and the men's hockey team defeated Nichols College 2-0 on Thursday evening.

WORCESTER, Mass. – Becker College defeated Nichols College 2-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference men's hockey action Thursday evening at the Fidelity Worcester Ice Center. The win lifts the Hawks record to 4-7-1 (2-5-0 CCC) , while the Bison fall to 5-4-2 (3-2-2 CCC).

After a scoreless opening period, Becker got on the board 1:17 into the second when Brandon Morgan (Rochester, N.Y.) fed John Tomkowiak (Lindenhurst, Ill.), who one-timed it into the Bison net.

The Bison had plenty of chances to tie the game as they outshot the Hawks 53-29 for the game, including a 21-6 margin in the third period.

With just 13 seconds remaining in regulation, Charles Costello (Philadelphia, Pa.) secured the 2-0 victory on an assist from Brandon Morgan.

Becker goalie Cody Foster (Saugus, Calif.) took advantage of his first collegiate start, turning away 53 shots to earn the shutout victory. Nichols goalkeeper Henry Burns (Camillus, N.Y.) suffered the loss after making 27 saves.

The two teams will wrap up their home and home series on Saturday, December 2nd at 4:40 p.m.
