Equestrian Places Fourth at URI Show

The Becker Equestrian Team began their spring semester season with a total of 25 points for fourth place at University of Rhode Island.

Senior Catherine Merrill began the day in open fences with a second place finish followed by freshman Maia Gromadowski who placed fifth. Merrill and Gromadowski both rode in open flat, earning fourth and second.

Senior Terise Cole, junior Kirby Kojobashian, and sophomore Meghan Burkhardt showed in intermediate fences placing fourth, second, and sixth, respectively. Burkhardt and Cole also rode in open flat with Burkhardt placing sixth.

Kojobashian remained consistent and earned another second place in intermediate flat alongside freshmen Bella Brogle who placed third, and Morgan Houghton who placed fifth. Brogle also placed third in novice fences with Houghton placing sixth.

The first blue ribbon of the day went to sophomore Lynda Mockler in novice fences followed by junior Sara Pauwels placing sixth.

Novice flat saw Pauwels and freshman Stephanie Friece place second with junior Hailee Klapproth placing fifth.

Freshman Casey Ryan earned the second first place of the day in advanced walk trot canter in her IHSA debut. Freshmen Haley Van Zuylan and Tanashia Casado both placed second while sophomore Jess Goeller placed fourth. Freshman Shannon Mangan and sophomore Casey Petrone each placed third.

Freshmen Sam Hovasse and Emily Farrell both showed in beginner walk trot canter and placed second alongside Sophomore Tyler Downer who placed third.

Freshman Huw Evans made his walk trot debut to round out the day and placed fifth.
