Equestrian Places Third In Johnson & Wales Show

The Becker College Equestrian Team traveled to Rehoboth, Mass. on Saturday for their first show of the season hosted by Johnson and Whales University. The Hawks tallied 23 points, placing third overall.

Making her IHSA debut, freshman Maia Gromadowski (Unionville, Conn.) started out the day in open fences.

Senior Terise Cole (Penacook, N.H.) captured third place in intermediate fences and fifth place in intermediate flat.

Showing in both open flat and novice fences was sophomore Meghan Burkhardt (Terryville, Conn.) ,who placed second over fences.

The first blue ribbon of the season went to sophomore Bella Brogle (Westhampton, Mass.), who earned first place in novice flat.

Also showing in her first IHSA show was freshman Haley Van Zuylan (San Jose, Calif.) who put in a solid ride in her advanced walk-trot-canter class.

Rounding out the day with a second place in Walk-Trot was sophomore Tyler Downer (Middletown, Conn.).

The team will be showing again on Saturday, October 25th at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
