Nighthawks top Baseball in NECC action

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. --- The Becker College baseball team took a 15-4 loss to the visiting team from Newbury College on Sunday at the New England Baseball Complex in Northborough, Massachusetts.

The Hawks of Becker (2-1, 2-1 NECC) posted several strong hitting performances on the day. Chris Testa went three-for-five while Josiah Shepherd had an RBI sacrifice fly, an RBI base hit and two walks. Michael Bianco went two for three, while William Negron had two hits with an RBI.

The Nighthawks of Newbury (4-2, 1-2) were led by Javi Martinez, with two hits and four RBI, including a two-run blast to right. Mitchell Walsh racked up four hits with two runs batted in while David Center had a two-run home to right. Starting pitcher Jim McGrorry went six innings, striking out three and giving up three runs. Matthew Sobray scored three runs with two hits and an RBI.

Becker will look to bounce back when they head down to Lewisburg, Florida for their annual Spring Break trip. The Hawks play Gordon College in a double-header on Saturday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Newbury will play in Fort Myers, Florida in their next contest, playing NYU on Sunday at 9:00 a.m.
